I have been the primary caregiver for my wife. I am very particular with how my wife needs things done. Most of the time, nurses ignore me and do it their own way and it makes me so mad to see my wife in pain and suffering. Shawna took the time to let me show her how my wife needs things done. Shawna learned quickly. She did everything I showed her and I felt confident in her abilities to care for my wife. Usually, I sleep at the hospital but I knew Shawna would take good care of my wife. So I got to sleep at home. Having a bit of respite is a big deal for any family caregiver. Thank you, Shawna.

Shawna was very helpful when my best friend was sick and dying. Her energy and kind words were so comforting, especially for my friend's mom. We brought food for the staff to show our appreciation, but I really wish to honor Shawna to highlight what a special person and nurse she is. We will forever be grateful for Shawna during the toughest time. Thank you, Shawna, for your smile, your positivity, and your compassionate care.

A family member asked me to write this since English is not her first language. My family and I had a difficult time. We knew our daughter was sick. I know I was in denial. I was angry at the world, but there was one person who really helped me. Nurse Shawna. When the doctors took the tube out, Shawna was there holding me and explaining everything that was happening. I felt comforted at the time that I didn't think possible. I want to thank 3F nurses, doctors, the respiratory team, everyone. But mostly- Shawna because she comforted me and it helped me cope with my daughter's death better.

Shawna is an excellent teacher. As a student nurse in the ICU, you can become afraid to make mistakes, however, Shawna was so supportive! Walking me through new skills like drawing blood safely in the arterial line. She has such a great sense of humor and makes her patients laugh. Thank you SO MUCH for being so kind and knowledgeable!
