The patient was admitted to WT 2nd floor in early January. It was a planned admission for approximately 4 weeks due to her high risk pregnancy. Several days after being admitted the patient reported just not feeling well, although nothing specific. Sharon was her nurse that day from 7am until 7pm. At about 6:30 pm while in the restroom the patient noticed that she was bleeding and she called for Sharon. The patient says that she could hear Sharon running down the hall when she told her what was wrong. Sharon was able to get the patient into bed and called L&D for support.

The patient wrote: "Thanks to her quick response and the exceptional teamwork of all the responding nurses, I was taken to the OR and my baby was delivered safely 23 minutes later at 6:58." Sharon was off the next day but called me to see how the baby and I were doing. It is my opinion that Sharon went above and beyond to help me."

Sharon is a shining star among her peers. She is compassionate and kind to every patient and family that she encounters. Sharon is an inspiration to her team. She offers her listening ear and beautiful poems to anyone in need of encouragement. Her clinical skills are outstanding and Sharon is often called upon to be a resource to us all. She quickly picks up on deviations from the normal postpartum or antepartum patient and is quick to react. In the case mentioned she was quickly at the patient's side starting the process of moving her to L&D for an emergency C-Section. She saved two lives with her calm demeanor and quick reaction. There have been many times where Sharon's quick response and keen eye made a difference in the lives of our patients. We all know there will be more in her future and we are thankful to have Sharon on our team.
