Sharon onboarded 52 new employees to the unit since March 2018. Teamwork was her priority this past year as more staff was added to the unit. Successful as evidence by staff engagement with increased staff meeting attendance, social activities well attended outside of work hours, LTR increased from FY18 of 55% to FY YTD 81%. Staff works well together for patient increased to FY18 61% to FY YTD 87%. Contribute to LTR through Nurse leader Rounding on unit daily M-F/ Addresses patient and staff issues to increase LTR. Instigates toughpoints with new employees weekly or bi-weekly while employee on orientation. Exemplar of fairness, compassion, empathy, kindness, communication leader, collaboration to each patient alike and staff alike. Nurse Self-Scheduling for all nurses on unit which is unique to this department. 93% of nurses report satisfaction with self-scheduling. Created workflow for discharge lounge to assist with throughput RTDC. Started Employee of the Month recognition as well as weekly recognition of staff who are recognized during manager's nurse leader rounding and publicized in staff huddle room, written patient comments displayed in huddle room. Completed stint as co-chair of manager's council in August 2018. Identifies staff strengths to engage staff in professional development to optimize employee engagement. Attended Nurse manager certification class, studying for certification. Participated in Lambs Farm Outreach Day. Mentoring of new manager. Despite not acting in an official capacity, Sharon offers practical managerial advice, tips, answers any questions, gives helpful ideas that were successful on her unit for new mangers to try. Commences care conferences when patient has extended hospitalization to ensure that entire team, including the patient and family working on the same plan and agreed-upon goals. Sepsis readmission prevention pilot unit, manager is co-lead with the quality team. Witness manager commonly asking staff if their patients have been mobilized yet. Part of the whiteboard audits performed daily to ensure that the patient, family, and healthcare team are on the same page.
