I took my husband to the ER at FMC recently, due to my husband being a Chronic Heart Failure patient. He had been swelling up with fluid, was very restless and wouldn't sleep for about three weeks prior to coming in. By this time I was worried and scared and did not know what to do for him, but the staff here at FMC really took care of him. I had to check him into a ward to have him observed and find out what the issue was. By this time, the doctors were diligently trying to find ways for my husband to expel liquid from his body safety without causing his heart to overwork itself. It was finally decided it was best for him to go to the ICU for further monitoring. Well, this time no one could figure out what to do or what to say or how to go about explaining this to my husband and me, and then we met Sharon. She was a ray of sunshine and she knew exactly what to say and how to say it and put me and my husband at ease. She also explained all his medications in full detail for us to understand. Before this, we were refusing the medications because we did not know what exactly they did. But after Sharon explained it to us, we understood fully what it was used for and fully accepted it, for the better health of my husband. For that reason I am so grateful for the nursing skills, knowledge, support and kindness of Sharon and all that she did for us in the Neuro ICU, to make my husband comfortable, and also nurse him back to health. Sharon's passion for nursing really shines through; the way she cares for her patients. She is very attentive, and her patience is remarkable. It gives me great pleasure writing this letter to you to let you know what a valuable nurse you have in Sharon.
