I work with Sharolyn quite a bit, and I have to say that I don't believe that the 10th floor would make it through some of the things that we do if it weren't for her. Whether she is being a charge nurse, or just on the floor taking care of her own assignment, or doing both at the same time, she always seems to be on top of everything, even when she feels like she isn't and never fails to make time to help her other coworkers who are struggling. This past weekend was hard on all of our night shift staff, but her especially. Being in charge of 25+ kids because we were short staffed and also taking an assignment of her own is not something that is easy to do, but she honestly handled it a lot better than most could or would have, and she did it for 3 nights in a row. There is never a shift where she doesn't work hard or help everyone every chance she gets, and she should know how much she is honestly appreciated and what an asset she is to the 10th floor.

I had a lot of patients to take care of this past weekend, which meant a lot of vitals and bed changes and ice packs needing to be refilled. Even with her busy and stressful weekend, Sharolyn still did her best to try and make my night easier by getting some of her vitals or taking her patients to the bathroom when they called out if I wasn't available right away, or even calling down to the EU for someone to bring my new admits to the floor so I could use that time to get at least some of my stuff done and be somewhat caught up. These all seem like such little tasks at the time, but when I have time to sit back and think about it, it really did make a difference in the craziness of my weekend, and it meant a lot knowing that she was more than willing to help me when she had just as much, if not more, on her plate than I did.
