I was working with Satoria Rowe in the First Admit area when she was caring for a patient who had a stroke. Satoria had a very busy assignment that day. She was caring for five patients, one of whom was seizing and became a rapid response, then a stroke alert, then another patient went into respiratory distress and had to be transferred to the ICU. She also received a comfort-measures-only patient who died on the way up to First Admit so she had to deal with the grieving family, post mortem care, and documentation on that patient as well. She handled all this well and continued to check on all the other patients in the unit and provide prompt care and address concerns, questions, or issues they had.
One family member called her a "super nurse" because she made sure her mother still had her speech evaluation, neurology orders completed, and received her meal trays on time as well as assist her with eating her meals. Satoria also made sure her mom was put in a hospital bed instead of a stretcher to be more comfortable because she had been in the stretcher for over 12 hours waiting on a bed to a unit. She felt Satoria showed all characters of what a nurse should be and was glad she was caring for her mother. She even noticed that Satoria had not eaten her lunch because it was sitting on the counter all day, but she still provided outstanding care.
Satoria is an awesome nurse who is caring and compassionate for her patients and their families.
