I started at Finley about two and a half years ago. The day I had my interview, I was beyond nervous. I was hopeful of this position and to take a step in the right direction towards my dream of becoming a nurse. I got to the unit and met with the Nurse Leader for the interview. Instantly, I felt right at home and welcomed to the hospital and unit. During the interview, she made it known the wonderful place Finley is. Since that day, I have found Finley as another home to me and she is a big part of that reason. Sarah exemplifies the competent qualities of a nurse leader in more ways than one. As a nurse leader, she never hesitates to help, offer advice and be advocates for not only her patients but her team. If there are any issues on the floor, she will stop what she is doing to assist in resolving the issue. Sometimes, we are short staffed, but she is the first person to say, "I can cover if I need to, even if that means working third shift". The balance between work and life is easily understood by her. If you need to talk, she will make time for that to happen. She will offer advice on personal life issues as well as at work in which we could perform better at providing effective, quality care. She is a strong advocate for our patients and truly wants the best outcomes. It is made known by the amount of motivation and determination the unit brings her. Day in and day out it is prevalent. Sarah is an exceptional nurse leader, role model and an inspiration to many, including myself. I have never met someone who is as caring, professional and compassionate about their job, patients, and team.
