RN recently took care of a 32 year old male dying of acute bacterial meningitis. She facilitated organ donation with NORS by being the liason between Methodist physicians and ancillary staff. Her concern for maintaining the memory of the patient for his 18 month old child, motivated her to assist the family in obtaining the patient's hand adn foot imprints. Not only was this a challenging clinical assignment, but very emotionally demanding for the RN. During the shift she also took time to mentor new RNs on the NORS process. As a critical care RN of over 20 years, I am in awe of her clinical expertise and compassion that she demonstrates daily in our critical care unit.
