While most Children's employees are ready to go above and beyond for any patient, few are willing to turn over a pair of scissors and let a patient become hairdresser for a day. But that's exactly what Sarah Juhasz did for a child struggling to cope with hair loss. The patient had been admitted to the Egleston PICU and was deeply upset when her matted hair was already falling out due to chemo and had to be cut. It was just another part of her diagnosis and hospital experience that she had no control over, but when Sarah volunteered herself for a new style as well, the patient lit up, smiled, laughed and, cut the craziest Rod Stewart-esque haircut you've ever seen. Sarah then shaved her head bald and explained to the patient that they could grow their hair out together. This gesture inspired the patient to take off the hat she'd been wearing since treatment began. Being allowed control over something so personal really seemed to give the patient so much confidence. Sarah was incredibly selfless and passionate about her nursing care.
