Every single day that Sarah was my son's nurse was an example of a great DAISY nurse! She was attentive, cheerful, caring, considerate and wonderful with my son. He is in his first month of leukemia treatment and had questions about why he had so many types of medicine. Sarah told him his medicines are like the Avengers and work as a team to go after the bad guys. He is six, so that was the perfect way to explain it! You know you have a wonderful nurse when you miss her upon discharge ;-).

I was so happy to hear that Joel's favorite nurse was Sarah! Why? Cuz I agree. A few of the core values were above my high expectations: RESPECT - I always felt respected as dad. COMPASSION - Not a single interaction with my son was less than stellar. She cared for him on all levels (i.e. emotional, physical, mental)! EXCELLENCE - This was one of the words my 6 year old actually used when describing Sarah. She has been truly excellent! STEWARDSHIP - I've watched her juggle many children like him in a day. We all were cared for wonderfully. Her timing was impeccable. The monitor would beep and she'd be in under a minute every time. As we were packing the room to go home, Joel was crying. He didn't cry over meds, chemo, pain, nothing. He's crying now because he's sad to leave. He loves all his nurses, but Miss Sarah stood above the rest.

(I am the father of her patient and will write as he dictates) - -

Miss Sarah is an amazing doctor for me. She knows how to do blood draws and she always helps me out. She helps me get toys. She makes me cozy. She even builds legos with me. She's always gentle! She's got a pretty good attitude cause she's always happy. She smiles at me all the time. She's my favorite nurse because she's so nice and helpful. Thank you Miss Sarah! Love J.
