Sara is always a caring and compassionate nurse, but this particular situation really makes Sara a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award.
As we all know we had a crazy day on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Children's Hospital. Sara was off that day but came in on her day off to see a patient and her baby who was in critical condition in the NICU. Sara had taken care of this patient the day before and said that she really bonded with the patient and wanted to be here to provide support during her difficult time. Sara came back to the hospital just before the incident and was on lock-down in the NICU for about two hours. Sara walked the patient back upstairs to our floor after we received the all clear announcement. I was taking care of this patient that particular day and she verbalized how grateful she was that Sara was there for her. This is an excellent example of compassionate care and commitment to excellence.
