It is such a pleasure to nominate Sara Bean for the 2015 DAISY Award for 4 South. Sara is an exceptional nurse with many years of experience. She is the ultimate patient advocate; she assesses her patients thoroughly and plans the care accordingly. She takes on the role of primary RN to many of our long term infusion patients, and serves as liaison and advocate between the patient and the many services involved with long term daily infusions.

Sara can be depended on to take care of patients with the most complex medical and social issues. She is quick to recognize infusion reactions and is skillful in problem solving next steps. She is a resource for PICCs and PICC dressing changes, and is able to discontinue PICC lines when needed. Sara is very kind, mindful, respectful and empathetic. She skillfully collaborates and coordinates to ensure patients receive the best care in an efficient Short Stay manner.

Sara is a star when it comes to being a preceptor. She has served as a mentor and preceptor to many students and RNs over the years. Sara has developed great skill in working not only with the students, but with their instructors as well. Sara is a solid presence on 4 South. She is patient, thorough, and an excellent role model, always putting patients first.
