I am the daughter of a patient that Sam Gist has taken care of today. I think she's the best. When I slept over with my mom in the hospital, Sam came right when my mom needed her. After watching her do her job and taking care of others, I love and want to be a nurse when I grow up.

...

I am a patient that has been battling cancer and recovering from different procedures after my cancer went into remission. I was admitted to Methodist 1/1/14 due to problems with the reconstruction of my breast due to a double mastectomy. As you can imagine I have had numerous nurses take care of me. In the 2.5 years that I have had nurses take care of me, I have never had one as special as Sam. I wish that she could stay and be my nurse for the duration of my stay. Sam is such a compassionate lady. Sam has been super cheerful all day and has listened to my every need and actually knew what I needed before I even asked.

Today is my birthday and not only is it no fun to be in the hospital on this day, I also had no visitors nor did any of my family even come to visit me or call me. Needless to say I have been very sad and emotional. Sam made it a point to comfort me, cheer me up, give me her shoulder to cry on and offered sympathy and empathy. She has checked on me constantly to make me feel like I was not alone. She even brought me a birthday cupcake.

Sam Gist is one nurse you most definitely never want to lose. Thank you for employing such a wonderful, compassionate, loving and caring nurse. I will always remember my experience with her.
