Sam was my nurse during my recent upper and lower GI procedures. Sam fetched me from the waiting area and made not only me, but my husband feel like we were in a place where I would be well taken care of. She has a wonderfully caring way about her. Sam gave me choices: sitting on the bed, on the chair, or standing, which made me feel "in control" even though I knew I wasn't really.
Sam is competent, but never condescending. She never treated me like a child patient, rather like I "came to the table" with my own knowledge set.A sense of humor is a strong point for putting anxious folks at ease and Sam has one in spades! She made me giggle more than once, yet Sam was a professional at all times. When asked, Sam revealed her personal side: her prior experience, family, etc. It made her so easy to like and respect.
I'll never forget how she listened to me carefully. I have extremely thin, tissue paper-like skin & bruise really easily, so Sam made sure my IV was carefully inserted, then stabilized it without bandaids that would tug and tear my skin when removed. "The worst part of being here is the blood pressure cuff," I told her. "It squeezed me to the point where I experience acute pain." Thus, Sam adjusted it just a bit and the pain was totally manageable.
When Sam reviewed the exit and home care procedures she accomplished an amazing feat. She explained things so well that both my husband and I heard the same thing. That is a first, I believe! What an extraordinary nurse Samantha is. The Kearney Regional Medical Center should be proud to call her one of their finest.

Colonoscopies are probably pretty common for most people, but for this lady it was far from that! This was my first time and was with a lot of trepidation since my previous experiences with anesthesia and surgeries had been difficult. Sam listened to my concerns of having difficulty waking up and previously having a lot of nausea and vomiting after procedures. Sam met me and my husband from the waiting room through the prep room. She was very reassuring and explainedeverything. No surprises! Your endoscopy department is A+.

I registered for 2 procedures in the Endoscopy Unit and I met Sam. I am older and have met quite a number of medical professionals. Sam stands out for me: an attractive, young woman with a great bedside manner. Sam has a nice personality and is kind, thorough, calming, very professional, answers all questions, and goes about her work with lots of energy. The hospital should be happy to have her.
