My Dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma July. It has been a long, difficult journey for all of us. My Mom was diagnosed with ovarian Cancer June.
My Dad has been in and out of the hospital since 2018. He came to the ER because his BP was very low. In comes Ryan full of life and smiles and positive energy. He was a ray of light in the year of darkness. He was so caring and attentive to my Dad's needs. His funny jokes helped to lighten up the mood. My dad was hungry, I told Ryan and a few minutes later he comes in with a boxed meal and water. When Ryan's shift was over, he came to tell us goodbye and shook our hands. That was a very special moment that I had not experience before in a long line of nurses.
Two days later I saw Ryan in the cafeteria, Ryan saw me first and said hello with his smile and immediately asked how my Dad was doing. Fighting back tears, I told him my Dad was not doing well. He gave me a hug and encouraging words. He didn't have to stop to talk to me, but he did. Ryan's compassion and positive nature and funny jokes made our sad journey a little brighter. Thank you, Ryan and I won't ever forget your compassionate care.
