I met with Ruth when I first started working here at the County Jail. She was supposed to train me at first but our management decided I should train at night time. I trained at night time for a couple of weeks and just was not getting out of it what I needed. I spent a couple of hours with her one day just to wait for my next preceptor to show up and the amount of information she shared with me was amazing. She impressed me so much I immediately wrote my manager asking her if I could work with Ruth because we got on well together and she was a dynamic preceptor. I have been with Ruth for over a week and she taught me so much information and kept her calm, cool and composure even after staying up late with her family, coming to work not feeling 100 %. There is a lot to be said about someone who puts the needs of others ahead of her own. She is definitely a mother through and through not only at home but at work too. She is a dynamic person one I am proud to call mentor. ... Ruth has been a very awesome mentor and preceptor. She has taught me in a very short amount of time the basics that I will need to be successful at this hospital. She has been very patient despite the numerous questions I had to ask her and not once has she made a condescending remark. Ruth is very conscientious about her work and goes about her day with due diligence. She has shown me the correct way to perform operations by following Policies and Procedures. Ruth is very well loved by the Sheriff's Department and her peers. She is not shy about giving a helping hand when needed and is not shy about going above and beyond to help her peers and co-workers. Ruth is very team oriented, she works well with others and really allowed me to feel like I am part of the team even though I was not official yet. Ruth has a great way of assuming leadership without being imposing. They say "power corrupts" but Ruth has shown that a person can be a leader and still remain grounded. She is very gentle, kind, caring, soul. Ruth is every inch a professional. She is conscientious about her work and her duties. She has a real passion for nursing and for helping others in general. She is very compassionate, professional, and is very easy going with the staff. Ruth does try to manage her resources at work wisely. She performs her duties in a timely and efficient manner. She follows policy regarding giving snacks to the patients. Ruth is deserving of the DAISY award as she is very compassionate and easy going. She is always there when you need her and she is very good about helping you without complaints. She went out of her way to help train me appropriately here at work and I learned from her a multitude of things in a very short period of time. She is and will always be my mentor.
