I am the husband of the patient. My wife has been a patient at HUP for 10 years going through many cancer procedures including ovarian, lung, and brain. I have been around many doctors and nurses during that time period. My wife was in Virtua for a week, I slept over several nights and stayed till midnight when I did not sleep there. My wife was having seizures, she could not speak, was in extreme pain, cried for days until they found out what was wrong with her. That night while Ruth was administering all the drugs, cleaning IVs, bathing her, checking pressure, moving her all night so she would be comfortable. She spoke to her with such care and compassion, thinking maybe she would awaken and hear her. But for the first time in two days, during her shift, my wife did not cry!! SHE WAS OUTSTANDING!!

I am 93 years old and had to do a colonoscopy prep. I was nervous that I would have a rough night. My night nurse was so kind and attentive. Not for one moment did I feel anxious or apprehensive. She when above and beyond by helping me bathe on night shift. Washing down my bed. We laughed so much together and shared family stories. She was so special.
