My husband was a patient in the ER on Sunday afternoon. He had complications from a recent colonoscopy. Ross was the nurse and was wonderful!! His clinical skills were awesome and he was one step ahead at all times. But the most important thing to me at the time was that he made us feel safe. He included me in the conversations and I really appreciated that. People tell stories about how awful it is to be a patient in an ER. We had the opposite experience. There was no wait, everyone was professional and caring. Ross was the face of this positive experience for us. We felt like he was really "taking care" of us on many levels. Thank you, Ross.

He was absolutely wonderful from the minute I arrived to the minute I left. He is personable and compassionate. He truly puts not only the medical issues but the emotional issues as his first priorities. I actually asked him if he could follow me to anything where I may need a nurse. He's an absolute asset to this hospital. He is truly amazing. My highest compliments to Ross.

Kind, helpful, greatly appreciated this thoughtfulness. The way he treated me that night was incredible. I wish I could be there to see him receive his award. Tell him congratulations for me.

My husband has been in the ER at Avista several times in the past year. We have had incredible experiences with one of your nurses there. My husband was rushed by ambulance last summer because he was found unresponsive. Ross Palmer was not only a fantastic clinician but a fantastic human being. He knew that I was scared to death. He supported me by educating me both clinically and from a social/emotional perspective. I cannot say enough about his skill both as a nurse and as a human being. This is exactly what a nurse should be: an educator, a support, a fantastic clinician and a great communicator. What he did for my husband was phenomenal. He treated him as if he could hear and understand everything and he showed him the utmost respect and compassion that anyone could ask for.
Again, we found ourselves in the ER this August 2018 and Ross just happened to be our nurse again. I wanted to write something about him last year but my husband's diagnosis was just too overwhelming for me to find the time. This was the opportunity I needed to repay him for all he did for us. Again, everything I stated above applied to this situation only it wasn't as critical. He initially did not remember us, until I gave him some details and then he remembered right away. We felt safe, cared about and the education he gives to his patients and their families is above and beyond.
Even though 13 months passed between the events that brought us to receive care from him, he was still the same incredible asset to the Centura Organization. He should be commended!
