The University of Michigan Health System honored Rosemarie with the Daisy Award for going above and beyond her usual work duties by exercising her excellent clinical nursing skills and having a compassionate attitude outside the walls of UMHS!

Earlier this year Rosemarie assisted in saving someone's life aboard a flight to Phoenix, Arizona. Rosemarie selflessly displayed a willingness to assist this passenger, who was pregnant with twins, in an in-flight medical emergency. The inflight staff asked for professional medical volunteers and Rosemarie volunteered to assist, just 45 minutes into the flight. Rosemarie started an IV while another nurse monitored her vital signs. Rosemarie talked to the patient and kept her calm throughout the ordeal, explaining everything that was happening. Rosemarie said she kept offering reassurance and comforting words as she "watched over her." Rosemarie and the other nurse stayed with the patient until they landed and the patient was transferred to an ambulance. The patient has since expressed how grateful she was to have assistance from Rosemarie and the other nurse on the plane, and hopes to meet the nurses who helped save her life.

Rosemarie, for being the "Michigan Difference" after your shift has ended, we honor you with this DAISY Award!
