While triaging patients for afternoon clinic, Rosalind noticed a change in a veteran’s mental status while he was waiting for an appointment. She immediately acted by having a physician evaluate the patient. He was taken to the emergency room where the stoke protocols were started. The veteran was found to have suffered a brain bleed and was transferred to a partner hospital for emergency neurosurgical care.
Rosalind’s evaluation of the veteran shows her commitment to I care values and nursing excellence. She advocated for him in the emergency department when he could not answer questions appropriately. Her prompt interventions ensured the veteran received appropriate care in the fastest time, potentially saving his brain and life. I am proud to work next to her as a colleague.
