Roger has been with Boston Medical Center for 32 years. His gift of compassion and knowledge coupled with kindness and motivation is comparable to no other. There isn't simply one story to share that conveys the extraordinary nurse that is Roger. When the staff sees Roger walk on the floor, they breathe a sigh of relief. They know that their questions will be answered timely, correctly, without judgment, and usually with a bit of a lesson as well. They know that he'll be there for them whether it's to boost a patient in the bed, draw an ABG, or advise on a sick patient. And when we say staff, we mean everyone, doctors, too.
Roger has been called specifically by different MDs to answer questions regarding balloon pumps, CVVH, and how best to manage a deteriorating patient. He always has the patient's best interest in mind and will advocate vehemently for them. Roger is a comfort to work with. He is a strong supporter of his co-workers, assisting with road trips to CT instead of making one wait for transport, sharing monitoring duty at MRI, or rounding on another's floors when they are busy with a sick patient elsewhere. He steps up to each task, often without being asked to do so, because he knows that this job works best when working as a team.
Many things have been said about Roger over the years, but the one consistent message repeated overtly is this; "Roger! I love him! He's the best!" Sentiments the Resource Nurse Group wholeheartedly agree with!
