I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February. I had to go for my radiation simulation and I was very nervous and anxious about what was going to happen to me. I checked in on the first floor at the Cancer Center and then headed downstairs to the Radiation waiting room. While I was waiting, this nurse came to me with all smiles and told me that she was my escort to the simulation room. The nurse was so positive, her pleasant and funny persona dropped my anxiety down in half. She was very energetic and compassionate to me and my husband. Once in the simulation room, she stayed with me and was the best cheerleader a patient could ever ask for. The radiation staff were great in telling me everything that was going to happen to me. I got teary-eyed during all of this and the nurse gave me several hugs and told me that it would be okay and that I would get through this bump in the road. My husband also commented on how the nurse made him feel at ease too. (He was just as nervous). Her kindness, compassion and sense of humor helped me through a difficult time in my life. I will be forever grateful to her and for getting me through this anxious riddled situation.
