Rina made me feel safe during my stay in the hospital. She is very attentive and cared about my concerns.
I am an inmate of the LA county jail. Being so I have a great deal of anxiety and frustration being chained undergoing surgery. I don't feel I was treated fairly, and I have concerns about violations of my civil rights. At LAC+USC was the first time I have felt at ease and tended to without discrimination. I have had ups and downs my previous days but the bedside manners to being professional about my complaints that was demonstrated by nurse Rina was a game-changer. When she was assessing my IV, she noticed it was infiltrated and immediately she made an effort to put a new one in. I am usually an ultrasound-guided stick so when she saw I have no visible vein she called for help immediately. She made me feel safe during my stay in the hospital. She is very attentive and cared about my concerns.

First, we have much to be thankful for. This past year had been rough for all of us. I'm extremely thankful and grateful to work with an amazing team of nurses, doctors, leaders, and ancillary staff. Life is a pace, not a race. It's more about having moments than chasing momentum. This is the moment we celebrate one of our own receiving a DAISY Award. I've known Rina for over a year now.
The first time, I met her I thought, "She's too sweet for 7C." 7C can be unsynchronized busy. On our floor, we encountered challenging patients that can frighten our nurses. She was hired at the beginning of the pandemic and was trained when our facility had the lowest census. I trained with her on her last day of orientation and I told her, "You will be fine on your own. We are at our lowest census but when the census picks up you will experience the real 7C load." She's detailed-oriented, sweet, attentive, and compassionate.
One thing, I learned about her was she's knowledgeable with her bobas and teas because she used to work for Boba Time. Thank you for taking great care of our patients with such delicacy. I'm so glad, you are still here with us on 7C. Your excellent care does not get unrecognized.
