Renee responded graciously when called upon to start an IV on a young pediatric patient who was totally traumatized by the experience of having IV attempted. This young man had very fragile veins and was quite resistive to IV attempts. It was such an emotional experience due his piercing shrieks that some of our seasoned pediatric nurses couldn’t even bring themselves to be in the room any longer. Not only did she arrive with a cheerful, positive attitude, but she was successful in obtaining IV access and eliminated any further traumatic attempts for this child. When we thanked her she replied she was just thankful she could be of help. What a gracious demonstration of Kaiser caring- above and beyond.
