Becky is the epitome of nursing excellence. Every day that I work with her I am astonished by her compassion, expertise, and patient advocacy. It's all the little things that Becky does that add up to excellence in patient care. Calling a doctor to advocate for pain management, giving a back rub to a patient with a cramp and attention to skin care and prevention of decubiti as our wound care champion. Becky takes this privilege seriously.
She holds hands with her patients, cries with her patients laughs with her patients, and has the utmost respect for each and every one of them. Most importantly she listens!
Becky is also a team player. She whizzes down the hall, offering help where needed without prompting. She is knowledgeable and shares her expertise with new nurses with patience and respect for their eagerness to learn. She is also eager to teach them. An opportunity to learn from Becky is not to be missed.
Becky also is up to a challenge. She can soothe the most difficult patient, reason with family members, and in time of grief, she is there with a kind word. As our wound care champion, she has accepted the responsibility of examining our patient's wound care needs and following through with recommendations for care to the physicians. She has also accepted the challenge of team leader. This job suits Becky as she can take the heat. Hear them out, empathize, apologize, and take responsibility.
Becky is also involved in her community through her church, and school activities. She is not only a nurse but volunteers in her community while raising three children.
I guess what I am trying to say, is there is not one big stand out thing that Becky has done, it's all the little things that add up to one excellent nurse who performs each and every day!
