The Radiology nurses at Meritus Medical Center are a small cohesive group of dedicated, compassionate nurses. We serve our patients with kindness and provided exceptional care. We are dependable, flexible and genuinely care for one another. We function autonomously with very minimal oversight by our manager. Our radiologistscount on us, relying on our patient assessments and care to assist with procedures. We enjoy our profession and always put our patients first.

One of our weekly thoracentesis patients, suffering from terminal lung cancer and shortness of breath due to his recurrent pleural effusion needed transportation to one of his appointments. His brother who usually brought him in had to go out of town. One of our nurses, on her day off, picked the patient up from his home, brought him in for his thoracentesis, and then transported him home. The patient and his brother were so thankful the patient did not have to wait until the following week when his brother returned.

During the recent winter holiday season, one of our homeless patients expressed to us his loneliness and lack of family to celebrate with. We all pitched in, bought him a gift and provided him with a holiday meal. The patient was moved to tears by our compassion.
One of our elderly patients also expressed to us his lack of family and that he too, would be alone for the holiday season. We sent him an Edible Arrangement and called him several times to check on him. We told him to please let us know if he needed anything.

We have several patients who come in frequently for repeat procedures such as paracentesis and thoracentesis. We have often surprised them, should their appointment fall on their birthday, with cards, small gifts and sometimes a cake.

When one of ourpatients die, we always send a card to express our sympathy with an anecdote of how fondly we will remember and miss the patient. One of our patient's widows was so touched by a card we had mailed to her, she sent us a letter thanking us for the care we provided and comfort we gave to her husband in his last days.

We often randomly call patients to check up on them, even if their procedure was several days or weeks ago. The patients always express much gratitude for our continued support and interest in their well-being.
