Rachel was a phenomenal nurse to me. I was going through one of the most difficult times that I have ever experienced. Everything was new to me, hospital stays, medication, tests, and procedures. When I came to Shirley Ryan I was absolutely clueless about how it was going to be and very scared. Not only was I welcomed and comfortable with the staff, but I was treated the way a patient should be. Rachel was close to my age so it was very easy to connect with her. We talked about each other's lives, who was important to us in our lives, some of our dreams and goals, and what she could do to make my stay better. The hospital staff became my family, being 3 hours away from home it was very tough. I woke up happy every day knowing that if I tried hard in therapy they would be proud of me. Rachel became like a big sister to me. Not only was she compassionate and very skilled, but she was also my best friend. She knew how to comfort me and how to make me laugh. No matter what kind of day I was having I was always excited to see Rachel even if she was bringing me medicine or shots. Shirley Ryan was a life-changing experience for me. I would not have gotten to where I am today if it wasn't for the great nurses and staff here. I recommend Shirley Ryan to everyone and it is truly an honor to have experienced such a great place. I make time to even come to visit. I wish all nurses were like Rachel.

Rachel is an excellent nurse who made my month long stay better. Helped me whenever I needed. Went above and beyond in her job.

Rachel has been so patient and understanding the entire time I have been here. She is always upbeat and positive. She went out of her way to not only help me but accommodate my husband who would stay with me on weekends as well. She also made sure my family knew how to work the lift and were ready to take care of me at home. She always knows what needs to be done and just does it- no attitude or fuss. She just comes in and gets it done. She is an awesome nurse. She never made me feel bad about my needs. She is a wonderful nurse. She has an amazing rapport with her co-workers and patients. Saying thank you just doesn't seem like enough, but thank you!
