Penny was very patient and went above and beyond to help my sister get comfortable. For over a week, due to pain, cancer, treatments, etc., my sister had not sat in one spot, elevated her feet, or even appeared at rest. This nurse found a geri-type chair, pillows, and blankets when my sister told her the ER bed was going to be too hard for her to sit on. My sister was diagnosed 6-8 weeks ago with MM cancer in her spine, tailbone, and backs of legs. She has taking treatments and radiation. I felt Penny showed kindness, compassion, and real concern for my sister and her situation. She remained at my sister's "beck and call" so to speak. This nurse kept coming in to check her pain level, comfort, and overall well-being. She even went out of her way when my sister said she had not eaten all day. Within minutes she brought jello, applesauce, ice water and a cup of ice.
Within an hour of coming to the room and meeting the nurse and PA, my sister was comfortable and showed no signs of restlessness. The color of her skin on her face began to appear back to its natural color, which is not ashen or pale. My sister was very satisfied and pleased to have met this nurse. I wanted to show our appreciation of her by letting others know what a great nurse she is and an asset to CAMC and the nursing field. Thank you, nurse Penny Anderson. Great job! From a very pleased family member.
