Pauline Elliott is the Orthopedic Program Coordinator for MRMC and has been here for many years. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit our state and our facility months ago, we all feared what that would mean for us as employees and more importantly for our patients. Our orthopedic population quickly dwindled as a holt was put on elective surgeries. As this affected Pauline's daily job duties, she quickly looked for different ways to be of service to our patients within the facility. As a result, Pauline created and submitted a proposal to support an enhance patient and family communication during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program was titled "A Ministry of Presence" and has been an amazing heartfelt patient and family-centered approach to the care of our patients and families. Patients and family members have been able to utilize technology, with the help and support from this team, to communicate with their loved ones while being hospitalized. These conversations range from tearful goodbyes, education and updates of care, to just a friendly visit offering emotional support. The positive feedback from this program has been substantial and I feel that Pauline has really shown how to be empathetic, positive, motivated, and a true model of what our ministry stands for being "good help" to those in need. I am so very proud of her for the work she has done during this difficult time, serving our patients and community.
