During this stressful, painful experience, Patrina made me feel cared for, special, and as comfortable as possible. I came in with extreme pain and very afraid of getting something worse due to my suppressed immune system. Patrina was very nice and made me feel like I wasn't bothering her when I asked for anything. Throughout my journey fighting cancer and other health issues, I have come to Banner Estrella many times. I usually feel very comfortable and most people are friendly. With everything going on with COVID-19, I felt very disconnected from all the healthcare staff. I had to take an ambulance here and I don't believe they even talked to me the whole ride. The ER staff was better, but I still felt disconnected from them.
However, when I got to my room after being admitted, Patrina was the first person I saw and talked to. She immediately talked to me and treated me like a person rather than someone to avoid just in case I had COVID-19. She was always just as careful with distance and always used PPE, but didn't make me feel contaminated. She went out of her way to talk to me and make sure I was as comfortable as possible. I believe she is a DAISY Nurse because even in these scary times where even she is in danger, she made me feel safe and welcomed. Thank you very much.
