I had a dehydration spell because I do not drink water. I was at the police memorial in New York City. I was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and was brought to the Emergency Department where I met Nurse Patricia Gorman who took care of me like no other in my life. She cared, hovered over me until I became alert and assisted in every aspect of getting me back to good health. She monitored all the gadgets attached to me and noticed my blood pressure was dropping and kept me alert. She assured me that my health was improving. She helped me get back on track. She watched all the machines and kept the doctor advised.
When my sons arrived, Patricia got them up to date on my condition and how to help me when I am released. Her ability to empathize with me, assist me, and help me to understand my problem and need for water was great. She assured me that seeing my doctor was important and understood my condition. She was the most caring person I had ever met. Being a police officer for 38 years, I am familiar with emergency rooms and hospitals. She was the all-around best nurse I've ever met. In my book, she deserves more than a medal. I thanked her a lot and returned Tuesday to do so in person because I was so grateful for all her help.
