...I remember sitting next to E in her hospital bed at around midnight as she was trying to sleep through her pain, and a new quiet nurse peeked her head in to do her normal check and saw that I was awake. So we talked to each other in whispers and she assured me that I was taking good care of E and she would take care of us. Which was an assurance that she delivered on her entire shift with us. The knowledge that Pam had for E during her labor was amazing, they were the things that only a skilled nurse could and not just in caretaking but also in emotional care. Both my wife and I knew that Pam was for us and anything that we needed, she could do and did! As labor continued to progress we faced yet another shift change, which is hard because you've got to connect with another nurse, which is difficult when you are tired from labor and the pain. But the change came and it went smoothly and we kept going forward. Then we hit a wall with natural labor and had to prepare for a C-section birth. And as we were about to go into the OR, a nurse that we had for just a few hours saw that Pam was arriving for her new shift and they were able to swing it so that Pam was going to help us in the OR instead, which made me very happy and thankful that she'd be taking care of us and baby.

Overall we appreciated the gentle spirit that she has and the reassurance to us as new parents that we would learn and that she would help lay the right foundations of how we raise our daughter. We believe she deserves this award because she is exactly the kind of nurse that we wanted and needed to help guide us through our new journey, and she delivered on those desires! Thank you Pam!
