I was a sitter for a 1:1 patient who was up most of the night and was difficult. Paige was consistent throughout the shift. Her kindness, respectful and sincere attitude really mattered. She was calm, patient, and helped me give better care to the patient. That helped the patient to become calmer and his mood changed to being friendly. The patient apologized to me and said that he acted like a jerk because he felt like the other nurses would not make time for him, would rush things, and he felt that he was becoming a nuisance to the nurses. But Paige changed his heart. Her unique, compassionate care to the patient made him feel better, and he was able to relax and fall asleep. What a remarkable difference one nurse can make.
She gave me comfort as well. She remembered to provide me with a break, which is so important to a sitter. Most nurses forget how hard it is to be with a 1:1 patient without teamwork. Thank you, Paige, for your excellent teamwork.
