I am a 42 and in pretty good shape and until about a month ago would have never dreamed to be in the hospital. I had three strokes with the last one being the most intense. From the moment I arrived at Methodist I felt at ease by the nurses. They were kind, took their time and made me feel as comfortable as I could in the situation. Within 10 minutes of being greeted at Methodist, I looked at my husband and said, "this is where I am meant to be." From that moment on and during my entire stay EVERY nurse, volunteer, OT, PT, etc. appeared happy to be at work and made me feel like their number one priority. There were several other patients at the time; however, each nurse during shift changes made sure to introduce me to the next on-coming nurse. Each nurse was courteous, asked me questions, did a thorough stroke evaluation and made my overall hospital experience the best it could be. During my stay, I had several breakdowns mentally and physically due to my situation of having a stroke (TIA). I lost about 15% of my left side mobility and had left side drooping on my face. EVERY one of these nurses was encouraging, helpful and sympathetic. One particular nurse was a positive presence each day and saw me during some of my lowest moments. She made me feel sane and spoke with me about her experiences with stroke survivors. My doctor was with me during my entire stay and was also amazing! To this day, I continue to talk about how AWESOME the staff at Methodist was to me and my family during this difficult time. I am happy to say I am back to 100% since my stroke and even walking 1 mile a day. Thank you!
