Franco was great! He had a wonderful bedside manner and mom really liked him and his way of addressing her as Ms. S. He regularly came in checking her O2 stats, helping her adjust the comfort of her bed and bringing her cold wash cloths to wipe her forehead. My brother commented to me several times how compassionate he was towards mom. In addition, Franco took the time to engage family members in conversation and answered what questions he could.
Mom's physician came in the late afternoon. After speaking with mom and the family, it was agreed that she would be moved to the circle of life portion of the hospital for the night. Franco told mom he would transport her to the new room. Franco saw that she was comfortable in her new room. He then asked me if he could go speak to her for a moment. He held mom's hand and told her that he had to go back to his section of the hospital, but that she was good hands. He looked into mom's eyes and said, "Ms. S, I do not say goodbyes. I believe I will see you again, so, until we see each other again." He squeezed her hand and left. We were all touched by the compassion he demonstrated throughout the day.
