Nonnie's recent care of my mother as she passed away was far superior to any I've ever experienced. I've worked with and taught hundreds of nurses. However, it's one thing to sit across the table from a grieving family during an ethics consult or lecture nurses and medical students on end-of-life care, but when it's your own mom-the perspective changes. Nonnie, by example, taught an old teacher that the very best care doesn't come from a book or a lecture, but naturally from the heart.

Nonnie's wisdom, compassion and care enabled my sister and me to more easily send our loving mother home to Jesus Christ. Nonnie knew exactly what words to use and when and how to careingly say them. Her timig was amazing. Her voice was soft and comforting. Her demeanor was perfect. She was the nurse all nurses should emulate. Without prior knowledge of my family, she somehow knew exactly what words would provide my sister and me most comfort. Some might see this as a blessing of angelic proportion--regardless, she played the lead role in God's well-orchestrated final moments of my mom's life. God used her to share His love in the care for others.
