My mom was admitted while I was on vacation in Europe. Throughout the week I talked to many nurses and each was extremely helpful. As the week progressed my mom's health turned for the worse and she eventually passed away. Each day I would talk to her nurse and their willingness to explain what was happening and spend time with me surpasses any of my previous experiences at a hospital. I would like to specifically mention Nicole, though everyone was outstanding. She helped me understand what was happening, explained possible next steps and coached me on when it looked like it was time for me to cut my trip short and get to Naperville. I did make it there in time to see mom before her passing and again the staff was outstanding. How caring they were for my mom in her last hours and for me and the rest of the family who was there. They ensured I was taken care of as well as my mom. Once mom did pass away they were so concerned for us and ensured we had time with mom.
On mom's last day Nicole was not her nurse. Once news of her passing reached others on staff she searched us out in order to meet me and express her condolences as well as to tell me how much she liked caring for mom. Again, something I didn't expect at all. Just goes to show how compassionate Nicole is.
Thank you all very much for all that you do to make a patient's stay comfortable and for helping a stressed son who left the US at a time his mom was fine and then found out she was deteriorating quickly.
