Nicole delivered, (yes delivered not assisted in the delivery of) my 3mth old in April. I would like to bring her a thank you card and pic of my little one to help remind her every day why she was destined to be a labor and delivery nurse. Nicole went well above and beyond to make sure my natural birth and safety was a top priority. From the time she received report until my birth at 1300, she coached me, cared for me, and encouraged me through the process. She communicated with the doctor thoroughly and didn't hesitate to do what was needed to deliver my son. When I was exhausted and wondering how I could continue she looked me in my eyes and let me know she was there for us and we could do it. I ended up with an infection and inflammation of my uterus from the doctor evacuating clots after the delivery was done, (which Nicole was not aware of) but she knew something was going on and continued to monitor me and made the decision to keep the Pitocin going during my transfer telling the receiving nurse her concerns and rationale. She coached my fiancée and even my mother-n-law on how to help me labor and what things could be comforting for them to do during the process. She made sure my voice and concerns were heard and settled my fears of an emergency C-section as well as letting me know that if it was needed she would be there and we would be ok. I love being a nurse and feel passionate about patient care. It was refreshing to be a patient and have a nurse that matched my passion in another field of nursing and feel safe and secure. Sorry for the lengthy email but I LOVED my experience there and can tell you that it's not an everyday occurrence to feel that way as I've delivered two boys naturally prior to this and did not share the same sentiment. So please celebrate Nicole for me and every nurse in healthcare for reminding us that caring and compassion are still the best healers when it comes to our profession. Please don't hesitate to contact me if more info is needed and to allow me to thank her once again. She is my birthing Hero!
