I was so blessed to be a patient under the care of Nick. I had never experienced orthopedic surgery before, but my nurses made this all understandable and bearable. New experiences were described beforehand - what a comfort! Routine but certainly not mundane, experiences were also described beforehand. Nick made the hours of my hospital stay entertaining too and this is a true gift. There is really not much to laugh at as one recovers from surgery, yet I know laughter is the best medicine. He wrote that prescription time after time and filled it too! He shared just enough humor in his bedside visits to keep me on the positive side of life in the hospital.
Nick had to have had a bad day or night himself during my stay, but I would never have thought this to be true. However, he manages to get all of the many nurse tasks done and yet be pleasant and give the impression of not being hurried. He has the correct personality for his career. He added reassurance to his daily delivery of medicines, he was quick to notice improvements, and he cheered me on thought my relearning of even the simplest tasks like feeling myself, getting out of bed scratching my nose or changes channels on the TV. I had seriously broken my left forearm. You can underhand the situation even better knowing that. I thank God for assigning me to this nurse and for this I will be forever grateful!
I am also so glad to think of others who will need his care in the future. Nick will work magic over and over again I am sure. Thanks to this wonderful nurse and to DAISY's representation.
