Our neonatal transport team got called to respond to an infant in need in Alpena, MI on the night shift. While in our ambulance returning to HDVCH with Mom and Dad following behind them, the ambulance lost control on a patch of ice and spun out into the ditch. Fortunately, no one was injured but the team had to wait with a sick infant for two hours in the ditch before they could safely load the baby into a backup ambulance. Our team was amazing and remained calm and comforted Mom and Dad who could not say enough about how wonderful the team was.
After all was said and done, this resulted in a 20-hour shift for the team who all had positive attitudes and were just grateful the baby was safe.
