I am a frequent flyer here at TGH, I have a chronic medical condition that lands me in the hospital several times a year. Living up and down the east coast, I've seen my share of nurses.
Today I'd like to give praise to my nurse Nathan. I've had him several times over multiple hospital stays (usually on the transplant floor but now I've followed him to 4F) and it would be wrong of me not to tell you how grateful I am to have such an amazing caregiver. Nathan has outshined every single time.
From running to other floors to find time-sensitive medication because it's been requested multiple times from pharmacy but still hasn't shown up, to following sterile protocol and cleanliness (something CFers are very appreciative of), he is absolutely amazing. However, tonight I was blown away by what a wonderful individual he really is. Tonight dietary took away my tray before I was able to eat dinner and he took it upon himself to spend his own money and buy me dinner. To put this into perspective I have cystic fibrosis, I'm low on weight and I'm pregnant. Food is a bigdeal! Obviously, this shouldn't be protocol but to see someone put in so much effort and the compassion he has for his patients is really impressive.
Needless to say, I'm sure that these acts of kindness and professionalism aren't sporadic. If I could request him for every hospital stay I have, my life would be much less stressful. Thank you and please know how grateful my husband and I are for Nathan.
