I can say I am writing this from a patient perspective and maybe nurse to nurse. Earlier this year, I delivered my twin boys after a long journey with infertility. Although I had exceptional care from every nurse I encountered, I had the pleasure of meeting two nurses, Brittani and Natasha, during my stay that made the journey a memorable experience.
From the moment Brittani admitted us to the time my babies were born I felt at ease with her bedside manner and caring guidance. She took time to explain what was happening and gave us great attentive care. She was our nurse the second day as well and entered the room as if I were her friend, not patient. She sat down and chatted with me as she fed one of the twins. She took the time. She didn't seem hurried or like I was a number. She was genuine. She stopped by to check on us even the day she wasn't our nurse. I would say that is a wow factor.
The third day I met Natasha. I was pretty miserable most of this day. She checked on me frequently and offered what she could to make me feel better. She, as well, was attentive and went above and beyond to get me feeling better. She steered my care to get me on the upswing. She always entered the room with a smile and a sense of humor at times which I needed. She also was genuine and passionate about her patients and job.
As nurses, we can be critical of our profession and expect the best. I did get the best care from these two ladies and could tell they had a passion for what they do on a daily basis. Family birth is lucky to have them as part of their team. They are what nurses should be, caring, friendly, down to earth, present for the patients and put their patients first. Hats off to you ladies. They are simply the best, from one nurse to another.
