Nearly two years ago when I was a patient there after having bilateral knee replacements, Nancy White was my nurse. Often she would just stop in to visit me and to see how things were going. There was one day, where I was depressed, concerned about my lack of progress, and she spent some time with me telling that it was not unusual at that stage to have those feelings. When there was a minor issue with a new medication, she got it researched and was able to get the changes made, making me feel much better. She was always caring and compassionate working with the entire team to make my rehab a success and allowing me to return to work quickly with a full recovery.
When my husband recently had major spinal surgery at MMC, I pushed for him to be brought to MGMC Rehab, rather than New England Rehab, based on the wonderful care I had received here. I even made contact with Nancy before his arrival, as I said that I thought she would be a perfect match for him in his care.
Even though my husband was not the easiest patient to care for due to some confusion, unhappiness with the c-collar he had to wear constantly, and complex medical issues, she was wonderful. She worked with other members of the health care team in rehab to coordinate his care. At times she would respond to his complaints about the c-collar by doing some minor intervention, but he felt that she was wonderful for trying to make it less uncomfortable for him to wear it constantly and was listening to his complaints. Any questions or concerns we had, she immediately addressed herself or by working with the medical provider or therapy staff.
