I have always had an incredible respect for Mrs. Nancy as our nursing supervisor. She has always been so nice and helpful when we have to call her for late trays, assist with nursing duties when there is critical staffing on the floor, and will also help out with secretarial duties when needed. I've never seen her come to our floor without a smile.

A situation that surfaced a couple of weeks ago really brought my attention to her superior nursing skills and leadership. It was a quiet Saturday night on Labor and Delivery when a Code Blue was announced over the intercom for a room on Kids's Korner. I was in the role of Charge Nurse for that evening so I and another coworker quickly headed that way to lend help where possible. Within seconds of our arrival, Nancy was in the room and taking over the role of code leader. As additional staff arrived to help, Nancy remained calm and continued to delegate roles appropriately and in a timely manner. Although most of us were in a state of shock and panic, Nancy remained calm and focused on the task at hand going over each step of the ACLS protocol. I was truly amazed by the professionalism and caring demeanor that Nancy provided to this patient, the family and our staff.

Even with our extraordinary efforts, the outcome of this situation was very sad, but I felt reassured knowing that Nancy was there as our leader. This is the type of leadership that Nancy portrays on a regular basis and should be recognized with much more than a simple thank you.
