This letter is to thank you, Sunrise Hospital, and the nurses on MOU/MCU for the dedication to educating student nurses with excellence and professionalism in the practice of nursing.
The nurses of the MOU/MCU unit dedicated themselves to the AZC student nurses in their demonstration of the week-to-week application of nursing compassion, critical thinking, skill, unit cohesiveness, and impeccable patient care. The nurses of MOU/MCU showed the students, educated the students, and impressed upon the students the many reasons why nursing is an honorable and noble profession, one that takes dedication, knowledge, skill, and passion. That they too, through diligent study and understanding, would achieve their goal of becoming a masterful RN; but the learning is ever-evolving and continuous.
As the clinical instructor, I want to thank the following nurses for their dedication to my student nurses while the students were in their Med-Surg II clinical rotation on MOU/MCU; with a special thanks to Clarissa, Jessica, Lauren B., Danielle, Ciara, Kayla, and Samantha who are the nurses the students were paired with most often:
Clarissa Dimalanta, RN (Special thanks)
Jessica Small, RN (Special thanks)
Lauren Bedrock, RN (Special thanks)
Danielle Scott, RN (Special thanks)
Ciara Richman, RN (Special thank)
Kayla Vargas, RN (Special thanks)
Samantha Frederick, RN (Special thanks)
Marianna Phung, RN

Ruth Castrillo, RN
Lauren Satterfield, RN
Linda Pike, RN
Rose Francisco, RN
Naomi Prechtl, RN

The above nurses along with the Charge nurses (Eva, Savannah, Angela, and Elena), I send you my and the students' thanks and gratitude for an awesome clinical experience at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. A truly superior clinical rotation, thanks to you and the nurses of MOU/MCU!
***
I met you nearly 1 month shy of six years ago at orientation. Today is my last day here at Sunrise as I have decided to take a position as a travel nurse and start exploring the country.
The reason I am contacting you today is to let you know how honored I have been to have been a member of the Sunrise family and thank you and the rest of the management team for the opportunities that have been afforded me.
While a floor nurse and a Charge Nurse I have been floated to most of the med/surg floors and have had an opportunity to see how other floors carry out their tasks in helping our patients. All work very hard. But, I have to say that the Nurses, CNAs, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, EVS, along with our Director and managers on MOU(formerly East 4)/MCU(formerly GMU) by far are the hardest working group of people I have ever seen in my 42 years in healthcare.
I cannot call them a team because they are way more than that. They are a family. I have never once seen anyone left to drown on this floor. Somebody, no matter how difficult their patient run is, will always help someone struggling. I have lost count of how many float and travel nurses had told me they ask to come to our floor because we help each other so much.
This floor has produced many fine nurses and has sent them to other units, Peds ER, CMU, NICU, to name just a few. We always tell our new nurses to keep at it, because the floor can be so overwhelming, and if you can master this floor you can work anywhere.
I have had the opportunity to watch these new nurses flourish under the watchful eyes of our more experienced nurses and see the gleam in those nurses eyes as the young ones come into their own and then many after a bit of time be able to take on the role of mentor to the next group of new nurses.
I am sorry if I ramble on but I have many emotions right now about leaving this family. But, the point I am trying to make is that if ever you decide to make a Unit citation the first recipient needs to be MCU/MOU because this, hospital within a hospital, is the unit that makes this hospital Sunrise Strong.
Thank you for your time (and donuts) and for the opportunities given to me.
