Morgan was taking care of my patient who was medically unstable; my patient was sent from Emergency Department without IV access and was hypotensive. Morgan did not accept this patient, a nurse prior to her did. Morgan was very concerned about the patient not having peripheral IV access; she decided to call the nursing supervisor to help facilitate this patient getting IV access. She would monitor this patient's vitals and would keep me posted. When my patient's mean arterial pressures were not improving she encouraged me to move this patient to the ICU.
Morgan's medical knowledge helped keep this patient safe. Morgan's persistence and use of resources helped facilitate getting this patient IV access, which is what she needed during this critical time. She paged the IV Access Team and when they didn't respond she called nursing supervisor, she had the sense of urgency that the other nurses or the area did not have. She was proactive. If it wasn't for her advocacy for this patient, this patient might have decompensated.
I am thankful for Morgan Linson; she cares and treats patients as if they were family members. She also has very good communication skills. She is an excellent nurse.
