When I received the news that my two year old little girl had a massive tumor in her abdomen my whole world started crashing down around me. As we were admitted to surgery that Monday and then told it was non-cancerous a shining light of hope poured down on us. However, holding my baby girl in pain being taken up to the pediatric floor was heart wrenching. When we arrived on the floor I was terrified, the room we were wheeled to had a large metal crib with plastic sides and immediately I wanted to cry.

Then we met Morgan, she was our nurse that day, she knelt down in front of me, held my hand and said, do you want a regular bed for her. I said yes, and she smiled no problem at all. She was so warm, and talked softly. We got settled in the room and she walked us through everything she was going to be doing to my baby; getting her set up, what her days and nights would be looking like, who would be in the room. She showed so much care and consideration for my daughter and my family. I asked if we could keep her all week, unfortunately no, she was not on again until Thursday. We had a long and rough week ahead. The next morning we saw Morgan; she was not our nurse but she came in to check on our daughter. She asked how the results came back, how our stay had been and she listened to us. She smiled and took time from her morning when she didn't have to.

She truly was an amazing nurse; I think she cares for all her patients in this way. She loves her job and I think she shows and practices the CORE values of compassion, openness, respect and excellence. Morgan explained any procedure or test that was being done using her excellence in clinical expertise. She provided extraordinary service and I think she is a real role model in the nursing community.
