Monica was in the parking lot before an oncoming shift when she saw a car speed into another vehicle in the lot. She ran over to help and saw a civilian (who is a Penn employee) turning blue and having an active seizure. With the help of other nurses, they were able to pull the person out of the car and care for her until the ambulance arrived. She was fast-acting and thinking clearly and critically during a stressful and unexpected event. Monica stayed calm but jumped into gear at the first sign of trouble. She helped during need and stayed until the person was safe and transported to the ER. She protected the patient's airway and head during a 15-minute seizure event. She's amazing.
