A 47-year-old mother of 4, suffered a massive stroke. Care was withdrawn to follow the patient's wishes. The social worker was present and called Monica who worked in the Labor and Delivery Unit, to come over because she knew Monica was talented and could make molds of the mother's and daughter's hands (the youngest daughter was 5).
Monica originally only had enough casting material to do one mold, but with her determination, she was able to call around to local dentists' offices and obtain more castings material. What an amazing gift she was giving these children, in the face of such a horrendous tragedy. We are so fortunate to work with such a kind and caring woman. Thank you Monica, for not only providing service to the mothers and babies on your own unit but spreading the love and caring to others.
