Monica Baldi-Kemp is the epitome of teamwork. She is aware of the impact the issues in sterile processing cause for the quality and safety of our patients as well as the stress on other departments. She has stayed late, come in early, as well as volunteered to work multiple weekends and nights to assist and ensure instruments were sterilized and ready for cases.
One example of her dedication was when we had two colleagues call off work for the 3p-11p shift in the SPD. I sent a message out to all colleagues asking if anyone would be available to help. Monica was the first to volunteer. This was her day off and she already had worked her 3-12-hour shifts in the operating room that week. Additionally, she had family coming to her home from out of town that weekend and she was preparing for her visitors. Despite this, she volunteered to come in and help that evening. Monica worked assembling instrument trays until after midnight to ensure instruments were ready for our patients' surgeries the following morning.
